TOKYO IS DREAMING  World Premiere

The wait is over! Our little film Tokyo Is Dreaming is having its world premiere at the 5th annual Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival.  The film will be screened at Maltings Theatre, Saturday, September 19th, 8 p.m.

For details on the 2009 Berwick film festival program lineup, you can download a festival guide here.

“With passing allusions to the likes of Duchamp, Léger, Man Ray, Fischinger and Eggeling stippling the action, this is an astute and assured tableau that's compellingly counterpointed by a score by Calexico's John Convertino.”

Painted Bride Art Center

On December 13, the Painted Bird Art Center will be presenting ATYPICAL: ARTIST SHOWCASE, which will feature "Neon Gothic" performed by Bethany Formica Bender and Scott McPheeters.

"Neon Gothic" is a dance inspired by the southern gothic writers Flannery O’Conner, Mitch Cullin, and John Kennedy Toole——involving two delusional twins who discover a dead body and try to figure out what to do with it.  This is a darkly comic piece which will eventually turn into an evening length work where multiple dancers play the same character.

Although Mitch won't be able to attend the performance, he is honored to have influenced this performance, as well as being mentioned in the same sentence as O'Conner and Toole.  Hopefully Lo-Vi will get some footage of the dance to add to the website for everyone to see.

For those in the Philadelphia area who might want to attend, more info can be found at www.paintedbride.org

TOKYO IS DREAMING US Premiere

We were absolutely blown away by the turn out and response to the No Festivals Required screening of TOKYO IS DREAMING at the Phoenix Art Museum. Program director Steve Weiss did a fantastic job bringing this film to the museum, and we just can't thank him enough for his support.

Not for a second did we imagine the venue would fill beyond capacity, nor were we prepared for seeing our film anew in the company of so many interested people (and on a big screen, too!). We may have seemed a little flustered by the whole experience, but it was a wonderful experience all the same. And for those who we didn't get a chance to speak with at greater length, we hope to do so in the future.

Book Tour Blues!

Peter I. Chang trains his camera on his partner Mitch Cullin who, several years after the fact, recalls his 2005 book tour around the U.S. with candid insight about the following experiences: illness on the road, the distractions touring can present to a busy writer, friendships with other authors, and the difficulties that a novelist can encounter when trying to balance a creative private life with social interactions.

The First Thing I Ever Wrote

What's the first thing you ever wrote? To answer this question, Mitch Cullin digs deep into his past to unearth and then read a shadowy, strange tale of beavers, vampires, screaming women, and elephants: THE HAUNTED HOUSE, written in 1971 when the author was 4 years old.

Launching WORKSHOP LO-VI EDITIONS!

For the first time Workshop Lo-Vi is dipping its webbed toes into the pond of digital publishing!  We’re proud to announce the publication of our first ebook: THE HOUSE OF SPECIAL PURPOSE.

Written almost two decades ago, and unpublished until now, comes this haunting story in verse from the acclaimed author of TIDELAND and A SLIGHT TRICK OF THE MIND. Focusing on the last days of the Romanov family during the Russian Revolution of 1918, Mitch Cullin once again weaves a "suspenseful, elegiac" tale about loss, unrequited affections, and the violent machinations of history. Featuring illustrations by Peter I. Chang, THE HOUSE OF SPECIAL PURPOSE is the first publication from Workshop Lo-Vi Editions.

Available now on KINDLE & NOOK.
